Latest Developer Diary Focuses On Research & Development Enhancements Codemasters® has today released the second part in a series of developer diaries for F1® 2018, the official videogame of the 2018 FIA FORMULA ONE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP™, detailing how even greater depth has been added to the Career mode by expanding the player’s research and development options. The changes and additions to the system will now see each F1 team have its own unique technology tree with differing strengths and weaknesses. The second of the four part series, which is available to watch now at www.youtube.com/formula1game, reveals that F1 2018’s Career will feature significant rule changes between seasons during the Career for the first time. Just like in the real sport, these rule changes can have a great effect on which teams compete for the championship so it is important to react to them as soon as possible. Alternatively, it is available to view below; “We already had an extensive R&D system in last year’s game but wanted to expand this for F1 2018 based both on feedback from our community and where we want to take the Career experience too,” commented Lee Mather, Game Director, F1 2018. “We have made significant changes to the in-game pricing structure, added ERS upgrades, given each of the Formula 1 Teams their own unique R&D tree, and added a fog of war around the development. “Probably the most significant addition is the introduction of rule changes, meaning that each season you don’t know where the other teams are going to be performance wise. Renault driver drives and narrates a lap of his home Grand Prix™ circuit Codemasters® has today released a new video for F1® 2018, the official videogame of the 2018 FIA FORMULA ONE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP™, with Renault Sport Formula One™ Team’s Nico Hülkenberg driving a lap of Hockenheimring, the home of the German Grand Prix™. The video, available to view now at www.youtube.com/formula1game, shows the German driver navigating a lap of the famous circuit whilst talking about his home race returning, and giving advice on how to get the best possible lap time. Alternatively, it is available to view below; The return of the German Grand Prix to the calendar for this season sees Hockenheimring included in F1 2018 along with Circuit Paul Ricard, which features in the series for the first time, and the 19 other official F1 circuits from around the world. “It is always fantastic to have the real F1 drivers spending time with the game and giving us feedback on the handling and the game as a whole,” commented Lee Mather, Game Director, F1 2018. “The drivers can provide a finer level of insight. DRIVE 20 ICONIC CARS FROM THE HISTORY OF THE SPORT Codemasters® has today released a new video for F1 2018, the official videogame of the 2018 FIA FORMULA ONE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP™, revealing the roster of classic cars that will feature in the forthcoming game. A new class of six iconic cars from the 1970s and the 1980s joins the already announced 2009 Brawn and 2003 Williams, as well as all of the returning classic cars from last year’s game, to take the total number of historic cars to twenty. The new F1 2018 reveal, available to view now at www.youtube.com/formula1game, as well as above, showcases the cars that will feature in the new 1970s and 1980s class, as well as the cars returning from last year. F1 2018 will release onto PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system, the Xbox One family of devices including the Xbox One X and Windows PC (DVD and via Steam) worldwide on Friday 24th August 2018. These cars include James Hunt’s legendary 1976 championship winning McLaren M23D and Niki Lauda’s Ferrari 312 T2, both of which featured in the hit movie ‘Rush’ (2013). They are joined by two Championship winning Lotus cars: Emerson Fittipaldi’s 1972 Lotus and Mario Andretti’s 1978 Lotus 79. The 1979 Ferrari 312 T4, as driven by Jody Scheckter as he beat teammate Gilles Villeneuve to the title, and the 1982 McLaren MP4/1B driven by John Watson and Lauda make up the class. New, time-pressured press interviews at key moments throughout your career will put you in the spotlight and immerse you into the world of F1 more than ever before. The new developer diary, available to view now at www.youtube.com/formula1game, details how your interactions with Claire, the new reporter character in F1 2018, will shape the way in which you are seen in the sport and directly affect your career. Will you choose to exhibit showmanship or sportsmanship? Your answers can increase/decrease the motivation within departments in your own team, altering the price or reliability of upgrades, as well as any offers you might receive from rival teams. “The media are going to play a huge part in the player’s career,” commented F1 2018’s Game Director, Lee Mather. It’s not just important for a driver to be skilled on track. It’s all about being the complete package. Codemasters® has today released a new trailer for F1 2018, the official videogame of the 2018 FIA FORMULA ONE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP™, that showcases the return of the French Grand Prix to the calendar by talking to the local F1 drivers about the recreation of their home circuit in the new game. French nationals, Romain Grosjean, Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly, as well as Renault Sport Formula One Team’s Carlos Sainz, talked to Codemasters about the new Circuit Paul Ricard and their experience with the game. Codemasters® has today released a new trailer for F1 2018, the official videogame of the 2018 FIA FORMULA ONE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP™, that reveals two stunning classic F1 cars that will feature in the new game*. F1 2018 will release onto PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system, the Xbox One family of devices including the Xbox One X and Windows PC (DVD and via Steam) worldwide on Friday 24th August 2018. The new trailer showcases the championship winning 2009 Brawn BGP-001, as driven by that year’s F1 World Champion Jenson Button and his team mate, Rubens Barrichello, and the 2003 Williams FW25, of Juan Pablo Montoya and Ralf Schumacher. Both of these cars will feature in the ‘Headline Edition’ of F1 2018, which is available for pre-order now, and will be available as DLC at a later date after launch. Brawn completed an incredible double World Championship in its only season as a team, securing both the 2009 drivers’ and constructors’ titles.
