Hellblade devs answer community questions, show the faces behind the voices

The voices will give you answers. If you let them.

Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice is the upcoming adventure of a tormented young warrior whose journey takes her deeper and deeper into her own psychosis. Ninja Theory, the visionary studio behind the game, are dedicated to delivering an AAA experience using mostly indie means. It is an experimental and often challenging process, one that they decided to share in their frequent developer diary videos.

The latest entry (No. 28) offers some insight into the different approaches they tried while giving a face to the voices that haunt Senua throughout her travels. The failings, the dress-ups, the laughs, the team’s resourcefulness – it all makes for a rather intriguing watch. Go ahead and explore the rest of the diaries if you’re in the mood for fun mo-cap sessions and behind-the-scenes information.

Moreover, Ninja Theory’s co-founder and creative director Tameem Antoniades recently had a lengthy discussion over at Game Informer, answering the community’s questions about the studio’s previous projects, Hellblade’s themes, how they depict Senua’s twisted reality, and the evolution of the game’s combat mechanics, among other topics. Check it out in the second video below.

Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice is coming later this year, DRM-free on GOG.com.
