Writer

We’re looking for a talented writer to join our team to work on No Man’s Sky! Here’s the sort of person we’re after:

– You have proven experience of delivering high quality written content in games

– You’re super creative with an amazing eye for detail, with a track record of delivering incredibly engaging content

– You’re not a one trick pony – you can turn your hand to any kind of writing, both creative and non-creative

– You have a solid understanding of writing in video games and you’re comfortable with technical aspects of the role

– You *love* games

QA Tester

We’re looking for a dedicated QA Tester to join us on No Man’s Sky. Here is the sort of person we’re after:

– You have lots of proven experience testing games

– You know your stuff when it comes to bugs. How to get into the nooks and crannies of the game to find them. How to write them up clearly. Familiarity with bug databases and workflows.

– You’re proactive! You can spot problems on the horizon and deal with them before they become an issue.

– You’re a self starter, we want someone who gets on with the job without needing constant supervision

– You *love* games

Experienced Programmer

You are an experienced programmer with interests and abilities that span many aspects of game programming. You like the idea of working with an innovative in-house engine. Come help us solve some really big, fun problems!

– You have 4+ years experience at a game studio and fancy a challenge working on No Man’s Sky

– You’re experienced at programming in C++, but you can also turn your hand to anything code-related, and enjoy working on all aspects of making a game

– You *love* games

Graduate Programmer

You’re a graduate programmer looking for a challenging role in games!

– You have great grades from a computer science degree, or a similar degree with lots of programming and maths, and solid maths skills to at least A-Level, uh, level

– You have a solid understanding of C++

– You have some amazing demos of things you’ve been working on in your spare time that you can’t wait to show us

– You *love* games

Every now and then Hello Games likes to light a beacon in the sky, shout, “Assemble!” and see what happens. This is one of those times.

Hello Games is actually a super small company still, just a handful of people, but we like to make big, fun, colourful things. If that appeals and you are super-talented, then please get in touch! We like you already.

Freelance artist
This is a cool opportunity to work on a secret thing at Hello Games. It’s potentially a full time role, but we are happy for people to work offsite as its self-contained (and super exciting).

– You have an amazing portfolio of things you’ve been working on that will make our existing artists jelly (jealous)
– You like the idea of taking something from concept to completion, with your own vision
– You work really well to a brief and love feedback
– You can turn your hand to anything art-related, from concept to modelling, characters to environments. You are a swiss army artist (you don’t have to be Swiss)
– You love games

Potentially you are right now working at a large studio, and thinking “I’d love to try doing my own thing for a year” – this might be a cool opportunity for you too… be an indie, work in your pants, but you know get paid and all that.

Hello Games has docked at the orbital spacestation. We’re loading up our ship with provisions and rocket fuel. Most importantly we’re making sure we have the right crew, the most amazing crew ever assembled … before we fly off into the centre of the sun.

Productioning

Production Assistant
You are the most organised person you know, and have some relevant experience.
You love organising things, and facilitating people.
You want a career in games production (not design or whatever).
You are the best person at problem solving that you know. You see a problem and you can’t help yourself: BAM it’s solved.

You have shipped AAA games in the past and specialise in liaising with large external organisations.
You are the best facilitator you know. It’s your favourite pastime. You facilitate to have fun, you facilitate to relax. You are THE facilitator.
